You can make a parasite tincture with the green hulls! Fill a glass jar with the hulls and put 50% vodka and 50% structured and or filtered water. What's in a dark one place for 4 weeks. Using a dropper fault in a glass of water upon rising. It kills most parasites in the body.

My chickens have the choice between 2x4's, and natural branches. they always use the branches. the nesting boxes are too big. I put multiple sizes in my coop, and they preferred the smaller ones with more privacy.

how do I get the plans

Had to see this again...I modified the design to fit a premade coop on top of your design which is amazing...a three story coop. The linolem is now part of a second story nesting area. Now I am builing your frame design again to add to the original for an estimated 12 foot bottom run area becase the sun hits in the late afternoon and I needed to give them some dirt and shade. Thanks again.

still debating gathering and processing all the walnuts from the two large black walnut trees here, but what's the rush, only been here for 42 years and never once di anything with them but cuss and mulch them up with mower. the squirrels love them, as do other ground critters after they've fallen. they do dull mower blades pretty fast. (grrrr) used to be three of them trees, a huge storm took one down/broke half the roots, we stood it backup and tied off to the next walnut tree, eventually the rope wore away and a huge (odd wind direction storm) knocked it over again. I just cut it up and burnt out back, thinking back, I should have made larger logs and called the shop teacher at school I went to. they'd have loved the free black walnut woo. 🙄 afterthoughts of a gung-ho get it done very late teen years fella. (tree down in my way, slice and dice to burn pile within 3 hours of storm ending) 😖

You need a gaggle of kids to crack all those nuts for you. It was the highlight of grandpa’s house when I was a kid.

do you have to dry them out for several weeks before opening them, or you can open them up the day you take them off the tree?

Unless you like waking up to chickens without heads I’d consider adding a tighter mesh that inappropriate wide fencing. At least along the lower portion add Hardware Cloth

This is a really nice setup. One important thing I would change would be adding more ventilation. Chickens really only need wind protection so the upper portions of the house should be more open so the waste gasses can escape quickly and easily. Their poop can become toxic to the birds and you won't really know it until they die

I really appreciate this and the plans too. I'm definitely going to make this becasue I want chickens and can't afford to buy a coop. I'm going to try and modify it for pallet wood rather than plywood, but the basic shape and base structure are what I really needed. I'll donate what I can ;)

Ive found a random walnut tree in a pull over spot on the highway and all the nuts were just rotting on the ground. I dont think people knew what they are but I dont blame em it looks like that spot is a teen racer party spot... beer cans everywhere, rope from towing cars, bits of random wire (from radios I think?). I wouldnt be noticing walnuts amongst that if I were blackout drunk at night either. Im gonna go there in the day with a couple rubbish bins, clean up that spot's rubbish and take a bag of walnuts as my reward. Not cause I care about making the teen party spot pretty but its right next to a river as well 😢 I think a bit of give and take is good when you're foraging.

Just don't get the plastic push stick. Mine broke in half and I lost the tip of my finger.

I made one similar to this and used a pocket hole jig for all the pre-drilling.

When I click or copy and paste the link to the plans nothing comes up.

Would have liked a follow up video. To see if it killed it, or just burned back the foliage.

You should have chosen heavy duty 1/2in.² hardware cloth to keep predators out, that cheap flimsy chicken wire won't protect your chickens from anything "/
